Senior Vice President, Technology & Corporate Development

Micky Minhas is Senior Vice President, Technology & Corporate Development at Avanci, where he works with a world class team of IP leaders and experts, creating and supporting independent patent licensing platforms and programs for the most advanced technologies.

Before joining Avanci affiliate Marconi in March 2020, Micky was Vice President and Chief Patent Counsel for Microsoft, managing the Microsoft patent group since 2012. Primarily responsible for outbound and inbound intellectual property licensing, patent strategy, patent acquisitions and divestitures, he also managed patent preparation and prosecution of patents and was responsible for Microsoft’s conflicts, indemnification and prelitigation practice.

Prior to Microsoft, Micky served as Vice President of Patent Strategy at Qualcomm in San Diego, California, responsible for developing patent and licensing strategies for their multi-billion-dollar patent licensing program. At Qualcomm, he held a variety of roles including having worldwide responsibility for preparation and filing of patents, litigation preparation and arbitrations, acquisitions, and head of their European Patent Oppositions practice.

Micky holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University, an MS in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University and  JD and LLM degrees from the Franklin Pierce School of Law at the University of New Hampshire, where he continues to work as the Director of the Franklin Pierce Intellectual Property Center.
