Continued Progress for Avanci Vehicle
We recently shared that Avanci has now concluded 20 agreements with China-based automakers across our 4G and 5G Vehicle programs. The participating companies include 7 of China’s top 10 vehicle exporters by 2025 export volume.
This progress is part of the continued global adoption of Avanci Vehicle. Today, more than 175 automotive brands participate in our programs, covering more than 325 million connected vehicles worldwide.
For nearly a decade, Avanci has offered automakers an optional, market-driven alternative to negotiating individual licenses with many different patent owners. The proposition is straightforward: through a single agreement, an automaker can license patented cellular technologies from a broad group of innovators on transparent terms.
Today, more than 90 licensors, collectively holding the vast majority of 4G and 5G standard essential patents, participate in our Vehicle programs. That breadth provides automakers with comprehensive, long-term patent coverage through a single agreement.
Automakers in China are making the same business decision that automotive brands around the world make: evaluating the available licensing options and choosing the approach that works for their business. Our role is to provide an efficient licensing option that can work across companies and markets, bringing together automakers and innovators whose patented cellular technologies are essential for connected vehicles.
We’re pleased to see continued participation in Avanci Vehicle, and we look forward to continuing our work with companies across the automotive industry.
