Michael Jian is Senior Vice President, Licensing, in the China Market Unit at Avanci, working with a range of stakeholders to support Avanci’s vision of transforming how patent licensing is done.
With over a decade of IP strategy and patent licensing experience from both a licensor and licensee perspective, Michael is passionate about finding solutions that work for all parties.
Before joining Avanci, Michael spent ten years at Huawei, most recently as Director of Licensing, overseeing the company’s patent licensing in handsets and other emerging verticals. Previous roles covered a variety of IP matters, particularly focused on standard essential patents, concluding licensing deals, patent transactions, and advocating policy positions across different jurisdictions.
He holds a master’s degree in intellectual property law from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and is fluent in Mandarin and English. Michael is based at Avanci’s office in Shenzhen, China.
