Spencer Guy is Vice President, Licensing, focusing on the development of Avanci Video, the independent, one-stop licensing platform which brings together licensors and licensees to share video technologies for internet streaming. Spencer brings to Avanci almost 15 years of experience in strategic intellectual property matters and standardized technologies.
Spencer joined Avanci from its affiliate Marconi where, since 2015, he has made substantial contributions to Avanci affiliates including Avanci Solutions and Teletry and provided licensing support to other Avanci programs such as Avanci Broadcast.
Before Marconi, Spencer began his career at a boutique legal practice based in Dallas, as patent counsel to several high technology clients. His expertise spans licensing, standard essential patent portfolio development, and patent prosecution, in fields including standardized wireless communication technologies, video technologies incorporating codecs and extended reality, and location and mapping technologies such as autonomous driving and high-accuracy positioning.
A registered Patent Attorney with the USPTO, Spencer has a J.D. from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University and B.S. from the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He is based in Dallas, Texas, USA.
