Yuji Uchigasaki leads the Japan Market Unit at Avanci, where he is responsible for advancing the company’s licensing solutions and strengthening relationships across Japan’s dynamic technology and automotive ecosystem. He brings more than three decades of global intellectual property and licensing experience, with deep expertise spanning patent strategy, licensing, litigation, and cross-border IP governance.

Prior to joining Avanci, Yuji held senior intellectual property leadership roles at Toshiba TEC Corporation and Toshiba Corporation, where he managed corporate IP functions, led complex licensing and litigation matters, and developed mid-term IP strategies aligned with executive business priorities. He has extensive experience working on patent disputes and negotiations across Japan, the United States, Europe, Taiwan, and China, and has participated in multiple patent pool activities from both licensor and licensee perspectives.

Yuji also brings significant international leadership experience, including serving as Senior Vice President at Toshiba America Inc., where he oversaw licensing, litigation, and management of U.S. subsidiaries and outside patent firms. He is known for his pragmatic, relationship-driven approach and his ability to translate complex IP and licensing considerations into clear business outcomes.

Yuji holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Tokyo University of Science and has passed the U.S. Patent Agent examination.
